Who We Are
Get to Know Us
Walnut Creek is a vibrant church passionate about Jesus.
We are one church with four locations in the greater Des Moines area: in the heart of the East Village, on the south side of Des Moines, in Altoona, and right off of I-235 in Windsor Heights!
We desire to love people practically and see all grow in a meaningful, rich relationship with God. Our mission to glorify God and make disciples of Jesus Christ drives everything we do.
Our Mission
Walnut Creek Church exists to glorify God by making authentic disciples of Jesus Christ who love and worship Him in all they do.
Our Vision
Lifting up Christ in our city and beyond.
Our Values
Who we aim to be along the way
Christ-Centered
We exist to bring glory to God by making authentic disciples of Jesus Christ who love and worship Him in all they do, by lifting up Christ in our city and beyond. Jesus Christ is at the center of all we do. We believe transformation happens as people see Christ accurately and rightly value Him.
It is God’s Word that gives us the most clear and concrete picture of Jesus. Because of that, we aim to lift up God’s Word in everything we do. Our ministries and weekend services are marked by wholehearted devotion to God through prayer and by studying, obeying, and teaching the whole counsel of His Word.
(Matthew 22:37-39, Philippians 1:21-26)
Mission-Focused
At the heart of a mission-focused church is obedience to Christ.
(Matthew 28:18-20)
Grace-Driven
God’s grace through Jesus Christ changes everything and is the basis and power of our personal lives and ministry. We aim to be motivated by grace and to joyfully give grace away to one another and the world. Christians are empowered through the Holy Spirit to labor in the Kingdom of God and love Christ, each other, and the lost world.
(Ephesians 2:1-9, 1 Corinthians 15:10, Matthew 5:41-42)
Team Players
We aim to be God’s vehicle for accomplishing His will and purposes. The church is the place for winning people to Christ, building them to maturity, raising up leaders, and preparing church-planting teams.
(Ephesians 1:20-23, Ephesians 4:11-16)
Problem Solvers
Problems are opportunities to change the world as we work together to see greater unity. We aim to confront problems with committed, sacrificial love and to find creative solutions for advancing God’s Kingdom.
Creative solutions often require calculated risks of faith. We aim to encourage each other to step out of our comfort zones – not carelessly, but wisely – for the glory of God, the good of others, and the advancement of God's Kingdom.
Mark 2:1-12, Luke 10:25-37
