CF Summer 2024

Join us in Des Moines for CF Summer! This is a discipleship program designed to establish, equip, and envision college students for lifelong obedience to the Great Commission. We are passionate about the glory of God, and therefore passionate about the growth and development of the saints. We focus particularly on giving vision for evangelism, discipleship, and global missions. CF Summer is designed to leverage the summer season for the Kingdom of God through creating rhythms and disciplines of authentic community, one on one discipleship, theological training, and practical ministry training.

We hope you can join us for an incredible summer together!

The Attributes of God

Our 2024 teaching series on Thursdays at Midweek will be on The Attributes of God. A.W. Tozer was right when he wrote, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." Thoughts about God lay the foundation through which we look and understand the world we live in. Everything we do on the most practical level in life can be ultimately traced back to a belief or perception of who we think God is.

We will dive into a number of God’s attributes, including glory, holiness, love, justice, goodness, and his triune and unchanging nature.

Glorious
God's glory is the created brightness that surrounds God's revelation of himself. (Wayne Grudem)
Holy
God's holiness means that he is separate from sin and devoted to seeking his own honor. (Wayne Grudem)
Love
God's love means that God eternally gives of himself to others. (Wayne Grudem)
Good
The goodness of God means that God is the final standard of good, and that all that God is and does is worthy of approval. (Wayne Grudem)
Unchanging
God is unchanging in his being, perfections, purposes, and promises, yet God does act and feel emotions, and he acts and feels differently in response to different situations. (Wayne Grudem)
Just
In English, the terms "righteousness" and "justice" are different words, but in Hebrew Old Testament and the Greet New Testament there is only one word group behind these two English terms... God's righteousness means that God always acts in accordance with what is right and is himself the final standard of what is right. (Wayne Grudem)
Triune
God eternally exists as three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and each person is fully God, and there is one God. (Wayne Grudem)

Training Nights

Every Tuesday through the Summer we will gather for Biblical training. Because CF Summer exists to train students for lifelong ministry, Training Night is a major focal point. Some weeks there will be a large group training and other weeks there will be tracks designed to aim at different stages of the journey from college to career.

Seminars

Towards the end of the summer we all come back together for our Summer Seminars. Each of these will focus on Evangelism, Discipleship, and Global Missions. We want to thoroughly train every student in our ministry to think properly about how God wants to use their life to be faithful to the Great Commission. God’s global plan of redemption has been unfolding since the fall, and each of us is invited to join him in the work. We want to help everyone understand the essence of the mission of the church and participate in every possible way, like concentric circles, evangelism leads to discipleship and the gospel transforms and reproduces in others, echoing out to the ends of the earth. These seminars are like a three part crash course on how to be a part of God’s mission.
