Aaron Meyer serves on the Kids Team at our Downtown location and has been attending Walnut Creek for a little over two years. We asked him a few questions about what it’s looked like to serve in 2020.
What led you to make Walnut Creek your church home?
Walnut Creek’s strong emphasis on God’s Word and on community encouraged me greatly when I first started attending. You are constantly surrounded by people who love the Lord, edify you in your faith, and encourage you to be more conformed to the image of Christ each day.
Why is the Kids Team a good fit for you?
I got involved with Awana last year when there was a need for Truth & Training small group leaders, the 3rd–5th grade group. I’m a teacher so it’s a natural extension of my abilities. I’m currently the leader of the whole Truth & Training program.
What is your favorite thing about Awana?
The chance to teach kids about the love that the Lord has for them and the ways they can show that love to others. It’s not something I get to do at school so I enjoy incorporating the gospel into teaching.
How has Awana looked in 2020?
Awana has looked a little different this year in that we have smaller groups, and we are spacing the kids out more. What has stayed the same is the fun, the friendships, and the focus on Jesus and the incredible love that He has shown us. We’re doing our best to help these kids grow in their love for Christ one Wednesday night at a time!
