Walnut Creek to Join the Baptist Convention of Iowa

For nearly the last year, our church has been in a season of focused prayer and counsel as the pastors have considered a future association or denominational affiliation for Walnut Creek. As shared at Member Meetings in May, the Futures Committee chose six organizations for closer examination and consideration based on four areas of criteria. At that time, the pastors presented their recommendation to join the Baptist Convention of Iowa and asked the church to take the next six weeks to consider this recommendation. All of the pastors of Walnut Creek are excited to announce that we will be officially moving forward with joining the BCI this month.
As pastors, we have been greatly encouraged throughout this process by the church’s level of engagement, prayerful involvement, and desire to seek the Lord regarding this important decision. We value the questions and input we have received over the last six weeks, and the conversations we have had with you all have been immensely helpful.
As we begin working with churches within the BCI, we anticipate there will be questions that come up along the way, and we will continue to communicate with the church as we work through this new relationship. We recognize that we are joining an organization that has an imperfect history and future, however, we are hopeful that joining the BCI will position us well to help make God’s church more fruitful, united, and holy for His glory.
If you have further questions about the BCI, we have put together a resource page of frequently asked questions and helpful documents at walnutcreekchurch.org/bci.
We are thankful for all of you and prayerful that joining the BCI will make our church more effective for the gospel than we would be on our own.
In Christ,
Walnut Creek Church Pastors
