We have a vision to lift up Christ in our city and beyond. There’s a growing need for sufficient meeting space and parking at Walnut Creek Downtown. We recently purchased the building at 301 E. Locust Street to help with this need.

Building Together is a three-year fundraising campaign with the mission of reconfiguring our current building, updating our entrances, completing the streetscape along our block, and renovating the new 301 building.

We invite you to prayerfully consider how you might join us in this project both financially and through prayer. The renovations will take time and patience as contractors work on the buildings. We thank you in advance for your grace and understanding. Thank you for being a part of Building Together.

Want to make a pledge?

For those who have already fulfilled their pledge: Thank you! If you are looking for more ways to give, please prayerfully consider making an additional pledge toward the $400,000.00 needed to upgrade the parking lot.

If you have not yet made a pledge to Building Together, we invite you to prayerfully consider making a pledge toward the $400,000.00 needed to upgrade the parking lot.

November 2023 Update

Thank you for your generosity!

Our goal from the beginning has been to raise $2.25 million for the renovations, and we have already received $1.85 million. Thank you again for your incredible generosity.

Ministry Center at 301 E Locust

We are also considering renovating the Ministry Center at 301 E Locust. This would allow us to expand our ministries and reach more people. However, we are still in the early stages of planning for this project.

Pillars of Building Together

Gather

To have adequate space for people to come and worship, and for ministry use. We gather to exalt Christ, edify the saints, and evangelize.

Share

To reach people for Christ. More than 390,000 people live within a 10-mile radius of Walnut Creek Downtown, and we want to lift up Christ in our city and beyond.

Raise

To invest in the future. We aim to make disciples and raise up the next generation.

Build

To build downtown and to be here a long time. We want to be a bright light in the city. We hope the new space expands our capacity to do ministry. While this is a WCD purchase/project, the benefits will be tremendous to the other locations.

FAQs

Should I turn in my pledge now?
Yes! This way you’re able to join us in Building Together. We value being financially responsible, and will complete the project in phases to ensure we maintain adequate cash flow for each project.
Is my pledge secure?
Yes, your pledge and giving are both secure. Our financial director, Jess Richey, manages the campaign finances. If you have questions or concerns, you can contact him at jess.richey@walnutcreekchurch.org.
Can I still make a pledge after March 1, 2022?
Yes! Pledges will be accepted throughout the campaign.
What happens if I want to change or increase my pledge?
You can do that at any time by contacting our finance director, Jess Richey, at jess.richey@walnutcreekchurch.org. We understand that personal finances change, so you’re welcome to update your pledge during the three-year campaign.
How do I give?
There are two options for giving: Option 1 The best way to give to the Building Together Campaign is to set up a new recurring gift online. Visit walnutcreekchurch.org/give to set up a new gift. Select “Building Together” fund. Input payment method. We recommend the ACH bank payment method. Option 2 You can also give to the Building Together Campaign by writing a personal check. Please make checks payable to “Walnut Creek Church” with “Building Together” on the memo line. Place your check in the offering at any of our church services. Or, send your check via mail to the church office (323 E Locust St. Des Moines, IA 50309).
Are other WCC locations participating in Building Together?
No, the project affects Walnut Creek Downtown most significantly and the project is located in downtown Des Moines. So, the Walnut Creek Downtown (WCD) congregation is invited to pledge and give to the campaign. Additionally, Walnut Creek South (WCS) is currently in the middle of their own building campaign, and other locations may begin a campaign in the next few years. We don’t want to burden others with pledging to two campaigns.
Should I redirect my giving to Building Together?
No, giving to Building Together is meant to be separate from your regular tithe. We understand this is sacrificial. The goal is equal sacrifice and not equal giving. Every dollar you give makes a difference!
