Helping kids apply truth & face anything

Awana

Awana is a great place for your children to get connected with Jesus and other kids. Each meeting includes verse memorization, game time, and large group lessons. This program is open to children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Awana establishes welcoming, supportive environments where kids, from every background and cultural setting, learn how a personal relationship with Christ affects their everyday lives.

Participate

Our Awana Clubs meet weekly from September 23, 2020 to May 12, 2021. They are open to the public for children Kindergarten to 6th grade. Awana is hosted at two locations. No Cubbies offered.

Awana FAQs

What changes are you implementing this year?
  • Reduced Classroom Capacity
Each classroom will have a limited capacity, similar to how our Kids’ Classes are currently operating. Our classes will not exceed the max capacity.
  • No Cubbies Class or Nursery Care
Because it is harder to social distance and keep a high standard of cleanliness with young kids, we have made the tough decision to not offer Cubbies or nursery care during Awana.
  • Possible Bi-Weekly Schedule
If we exceed our maximum classroom capacity, we will move to a bi-weekly rotating schedule in order for kids to safely social distance better. If this is the case, children will be divided by the location of Walnut Creek they attend, which allows for families to be together and foster relationships among kids.
  • No Gym Time
Gym time creates a multitude of challenges in keeping with COVID-19 guidelines. Instead of gym time, we will work hard to incorporate other weekly games. We want kids to love coming to Awana, and we know gym time is a big part of the fun for many kids.
  • Delayed Start
Starting September 23 allows us to see the results of schools meeting in person and learn best practices from them before beginning our Awana year.
How will you encourage social distancing?

Will there be at-the-door registration offered?

There will be no at-the-door registrations this year. If there are spaces in classrooms open after online registration, we may allow for additional children, but this is not guaranteed.

Are masks required?
Unless mandated, we will not require masks for children or volunteers, but anyone is welcome to wear one.

Jon Schreiner
``Awana is a way to partner with families by inviting and teaching children to be authentic disciples of Jesus Christ who love and worship God in all they do. We want all our children to know Jesus, which will change their eternity, their relationships, and their understanding of the world around them.``

Derrick Kresser
``Awana is a great way for the church to partner with parents to raise up our children upon the firm foundation of God's Word. Through Bible teachings, verse memorization, and game time, children will have the opportunity to grow in their understanding of our majestic God in a fun learning environment.``
